Maverick Travaux et Logistique
Exporting Sustainable
Biomass from Côte d'Ivoire
Maverick Travaux et Logistique (MTL) is the largest biomass exporter from Côte d'Ivoire. We serve as the link between cashew processing plants and users of cashew residues. Leveraging economies of scale, providing the necessary logistics, and offering the required flexibility, which is difficult for clients to handle, we simplify the value chain.
About Us
Leading the Biofuel
Transition in West Africa
With global headquarters firmly rooted in Abidjan, the largest city in Côte d'Ivoire, MTL has developed a strong reputation for excellence and reliability in the region. Since the company was founded in 2021, every project undertaken has reflected a commitment to building trust and delivering quality, ensuring that our products consistently exceed partner expectations.
MTL sources, processes, and supplies agricultural by-products – primarily from the cashew industry – to both local and international markets. The materials are repurposed as biofuel; a sustainable alternative to fossil fuels. While cashew-based feedstock is the core product, we continuously explore and develop other agricultural residues to expand our portfolio.
In Côte d’Ivoire, cashew trees have been widely planted as part of efforts to restore forest cover following the 2019 forest code. The tree’s ability to withstand drought and survive in dry areas helps combat deforestation and desertification, but the rapid expansion has also led to increasing volumes of cashew residues that require responsible management.

Purpose
A Driving Force for
Positive Change
When residues are left unmanaged, they can accumulate and contaminate nearby fields, streams, and groundwater. As rainwater passes through this waste, it carries pollutants into the soil and water systems, affecting crops, livestock, and drinking water. In addition, as organic material decomposes, it emits greenhouse gases into the atmosphere, contributing to global warming.
Such impacts can have serious consequences for the ecosystems and the communities that depend on them. The purpose of MTL is to address these challenges by removing and valorizing the large piles of cashew processing by-products, thereby we are helping both the planet and the people inhabiting it.
Community
Investing in
Local Communities
Both our mission and vision are deeply rooted in the primary purpose of transforming cashew by-product challenges into sustainable opportunities. We are not merely a biomass logistics company; we are an organization committed to environmental and social responsibility, actively working towards a better future for all. To strengthen the communities in which we operate, we support local initiatives through targeted donations. You can read more about some of the causes we support here.
Hermanas Misioneras de Santa Teresita
We proudly support Hermanas Misioneras de Santa Teresita in their mission to care for underserved communities in rural Côte d'Ivoire. The organization not only ensures access to education and provides meals for the children while at school, but also supports families by offering small business loans that promote entrepreneurship and long-term economic growth.
Comité de Protection des Animaux Côte d'Ivoire
We also support Comité de Protection des Animaux de Côte d'Ivoire, a nonprofit dedicated to protecting and improving the lives of pets across the country. The organization rescues, finds homes for, and cares for mistreated, abandoned, and injured animals. Beyond the immediate efforts, the shelter also promotes animal welfare by raising awareness about responsible pet ownership.
Industry
The Overlooked
Energy Potential
Côte d’Ivoire has been the world’s largest producer of cashew nuts since 2018. As cashews represent a notable share of the country’s agricultural exports, the sector is a cornerstone of the national economy. Hundreds of thousands of farmers depend on cashew cultivation for their livelihoods, and the industry only continues to expand as global demand rises.
However, only about 30% of the cashew constitute the edible kernel, while the remaining 70% consists of the shell. Despite their significant energy potential, cashew nut shells are still largely regarded as waste. Although small quantities are burned locally, substantial volumes remain unutilized, reflecting a significant missed opportunity for value creation.

Sustainability
Committed to
Planet and People
Planet
We have only one planet, and protecting it is central to everything we do. By turning waste into value, we use Africa's resources to create renewable energy sources. Our biofuels are made from by-products of the cashew- and other agricultural industries across West Africa, such as palm, peanut, coconut, and rubber, and we continuously explore innovative use cases.
All materials are responsibly sourced. Our cashew processing partners are certified by the British Retail Consortium Global Standards (BRCGS), Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit (SMETA), and some also by Fairtrade, showing that they source and process responsibly according to industry practices. MTL holds an International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) and is furthermore approved by the Ivorian Anti-Pollution Centre (CIAPOL).
People
We recognize that sustainability extends beyond the planet, it includes the people who inhabit it. In West Africa, national and local economies are often rooted in agriculture, and many middle- and lower-income households rely on farming as a primary and supplementary source of livelihood. Thus, fair compensation is core to how we operate, and we offer competitive wages and benefits to ensure that our employees’ valuable work is justly rewarded.
The commercialization of cashew by-products generates jobs in collection, handling, and transport while increasing household disposable income and supporting economic growth. Farmers also receive payment for materials that previously had little or no commercial value. In Côte d’Ivoire, there are roughly 400,000 producers, so these benefits extend to many households.
